Generation Y Needs Media Literacy
Young people today are raised with the internet as their backbone. Kids learn to play online games and do research works and projects by the help of the net. According to recent surveys teenagers spend more than 20 hours a week on social networking sites and video streaming websites. As Internet Service Providers continue to bring net access to every household, the number of people spending most of their time in cyberspace continues to increase. Believe it or not, more than half of the kids who are hooked in the net access porn sites. This alarming rate needs action and one way to do it is by improving media literacy by the help of the government. Sometimes, security softwares are not even enough. We need the parents to be well educated about the effects of the internet to their little ones and how to bring good online experiences to their kids.
