The Importance of Gum Health
An infection in the tissues that surrounds and supports the teeth is called periodontal disease or commonly known as gum disease. The cause of the periodontal disease is bacteria that attacks below the gum line in the sulcus. The attachment of the tooth and its supporting tissues gradually broken down by these bacteria. Bones and ligaments supports the teeth, and if they are damaged, the sulcus develops into a pocket. The more severe the periodontal disease is the greater the depth or measurement of the
pocket.
