The Painful and Expensive Consequence of Advance Gum Disease
Advance gum disease treatments are necessary when gum disease has already reached below the gum line. Examples of which are pocket reduction, root planing, regeneration, and soft tissue graft. Pocket reduction involves pulling back the gums to expose tartar layers that formed between teeth and gums. Mechanical scraping may be necessary to remove hard tartar where bacteria breed. A process employed to even out several root is root planning. It will be necessary since gum line will not cling back to rough root surface. It can be very agonizing. Regeneration corresponds to reformation bone and gingival tissue supporting structure that has been dissolved by toxins produced by anaerobic bacteria. Bone will be grafted first followed by protein injection to facilitate tissue-formation. Soft tissue graft maybe the option when the gum tissue has been destroyed down to the root. Apparently, the root will become visible and soft tissue graft will conceal it. This soft tissue may come form any soft tissue in the mouth like the palate. Any of these procedures are undesirable since it could be both painful and expensive. Before reaching any of these advanced gum disease treatments, one should be very faithful to his oral hygiene routine and gum disease protection plan.
